Compare contact layout before pin count alone: high-density and combo configurations have distinct arrangements. PCB options include straight, right-angle, elevated and stacked constructions; cable options include solder termination. For an adapter, identify both connector ends and the required wiring.
Start with the mating interface and contact layout, then select gender, orientation and termination. Check the selected part’s drawing for the PCB footprint, mounting points and enclosure clearance. For stacked connectors, check each interface and its position. Where a required dimension or rating is missing, request that information for the selected part before finalising the design.
No. Confirm the pin-to-pin wiring and the signal requirements of both devices. Matching connector shapes and genders alone do not establish the electrical connection.
State the required protection rating and conditions of use. Confirm the rating’s mating and installation conditions for the selected part and assembled connection.
Use it to identify the original connector, then compare the replacement’s contact arrangement and dimensions. A similar name or the same pin count is not enough to establish interchangeability.
Include the part number, mating connector, key dimensions and required quantity in your inquiry.
